Bell Worldwide Trends

Our first fund, Bell Worldwide Trends, was launched in December 2007. Its investment objective is to provide long-term capital appreciation. The Fund invests primarily exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and no-load mutual funds, based on ACTIVE PORTFOLIO ENHANCEMENT.

Is the Fund Right for You?
Bell Worldwide Trends is designed for:

  • long-term investors seeking a fund with a total return investment strategy;
  • investors who want exposure to a broad range of asset classes within the convenience of a single fund;
  • investors who want to hire a professional advisor to shift their assets between different types of investments as market conditions change; or
  • investors willing to accept price fluctuations in their investment.

The Methodology: ACTIVE PORTFOLIO ENHANCEMENT

With ACTIVE PORTFOLIO ENHANCEMENT we allocate assets among underlying funds based on their relative opportunities and risks, as well as current market trends. We actively monitor the performance of a wide universe of funds, and upgrade the Fund’s portfolio by moving assets into those funds we believe represent the best performing market trends. By allocating assets in this manner, we invest in funds that demonstrate superior current performance relative to their peers.

ACTIVE PORTFOLIO ENHANCEMENT starts by reviewing our proprietary database of diversified ETFs and no-load mutual funds with at least one year of performance history. We rank these funds among five risk categories, based on a fund’s historical volatility, downside, portfolio composition, area of investment and diversification. We compute a performance score for each fund based on the fund’s total returns for the most recent month, three months, six months and year. We rank the funds in terms of their performance on a risk-adjusted basis from highest to lowest. We also review underlying market trends to determine which trends are leading the market based on current performance.

Using this information, we select a diverse group of underlying funds for the Fund’s portfolio that we believe represent the best performing trends and an acceptable level of risk. The Fund may invest in underlying funds that hold U.S. and foreign equity securities of any style, market capitalization, sector or geographic region.
